DMP-207 (260-2917) Connecting Your Computer Faxback Doc. # 6676 Your printer and computer communicate through a cable that is readily available at your local Radio Shack store. You will need a parallel printer cable (also called a parallel printer interface cable) because your new printer has a parallel interface. This connector is standard. The computer connector, however, varies slightly between computers, so be sure to check your computer owner's manual for exact details on the kind of connector you need on the other end. Nearly all PC-compatible computers use the same type of connector. Select the correct computer-to-printer cable from the following list for Tandy computers. Computer-to-Printer Cables Computer Cable Cat. No. 6-Foot Cable 12-Foot Cable ----------------------------------------------------------- Tandy 1000 Series 26-289 26-1259 ----------------------------------------------------------- Tandy 1000 TL/3 Tandy 1000 RL, RLX Tandy 1200 Tandy 2500 Series Tandy 3000 Series Tandy 4000 Series Tandy 5000 MC 26-288 26-1258 Sensation OMNI Profile ----------------------------------------------------------- Tandy MS-DOS Laptops, Notebooks, and WP-2 26-1284 30-Inch Printer Cable ----------------------------------------------------------- Before making any connections, turn off both your printer and your computer. Connecting the interface cable to your printer is very simple. 1. Figure 1-10 shows the connector, which is on the left side of your printer. Move the small wire latches out of the way and fit the cable connector onto the printer connector. They are designed to fit only one way, so this is a foolproof connection. Be sure the connectors are firmly attached, but do not use a lot of force; it is possible to bend or break the connector pins. 2. Press the wire latches into place to secure the cable connector.
