DMP-207 (260-2917) Using the Color Ribbon Faxback Doc. # 6677 With an optional color ribbon installed, your DMP-207 can produce spectacular color text and graphics. In addition to the four colors in the ribbon (red, blue, yellow, and black), the DMP-207 directly supports three mixed colors (green, orange, and violet). Use your software to send commands to the printer to change colors. The more sophisticated programs support up to 256 colors. In your software program, select a printer driver that supports color printing. In many programs, the Tandy DMP-207, the Citizen, GSX-140 PLUS, GSX-140, GSX-145, GSX-130, or GSX-220, or the Epson LQ-2500, LQ-2550, or LQ-860 driver can print in color. Installing the Color Ribbon Install the color ribbon by following these steps: 1. Turn off the power. 2. Remove the printer's top cover. 3. Remove the standard ribbon cassette by snapping it out of the printer. 4. Slide the printhead to the center of the platen. 5. Slide the ribbon roller guide at the center of the ribbon. Position the color ribbon cassette so the ribbon roller guide fits over the printhead. 6. Lower the cassette into the printer, making sure that the ribbon comes between the printhead and ribbon mask. 7. Fit the two pins on the right of the cassette and the one pin on the left of the cassette onto the corresponding notches in the printer. Push the cassette down until it clicks into place. 8. Move the printhead left and right, making sure that the ribbon knob turns clockwise, feeding the ribbon. 9. Turn on the power. 10. Follow the instructions in your software to assign color to your document. CORRECTING COLOR MIXING When you select colors, the printer chooses the proper color band on the color ribbon. If colors are mixing, that is, if the bottom part of the letters are picking up the color in the next band, you can adjust the color band selection by moving the small adjustment lever on top of the color motor. The normal setting is in the center. Before sliding the adjustment lever, move the lever a little bit to the right to release the lock. (LG/all-06/28/94)
