DMP-207 (260-2917) Tear-Off Faxback Doc. # 6686 The DMP-207 has a tear bar at the top of the automatic sheet feeder. When your computer sends a form feed command and no further data, indicating the end of a print job, the DMP-207 automatically advances the continuous paper up to the tear bar and stops. All you have to do is reach over and pull paper across the tear bar. Sometimes a print job ends in the middle of a page because no form feed command was sent. When that happens, the paper does not automatically advance to the tear bar. You can manually sent a form feed by pressing the ON/OFF LINE key once (to take the printer off line); then pressing the LOAD/PARK key. This advances the paper to the paper tear-off position. When you are ready to print again, the paper retracts back to the correct top-of-form (starting position). There are two conditions that cause the paper to return to the top-of-form: 1) your computer sends more data, indicating a new print job, or 2) you manually advance the paper to the top-of-form position with the LOAD/PARK key. If the paper you are using does not advance to the perforation, check the length of your paper against the form length setting on your printer. Note: Occasionally, you may not want the paper to automatically advance to the paper tear-off. You can turn off this feature by changing TEAR OFF to OFF in the Setup menu. PAPER TEAR-OFF ADJUSTMENT The paper tear-off position is adjusted at the factory for standard continuous paper. Occasionally, this position may not be suitable for the kind of paper you are using. In those cases, you can adjust the tear-off position by doing the following: 1. Load your paper into the tractor unit. 2. With the printer off line, press the LOAD/PARK key to advance the paper to the tear bar. 3. Switch the printer on line. 4. Hold the LOAD/PARK and LF/FF keys for three seconds. The LOAD/PARK and LF/FF indicators blink. Release the keys. 5. To adjust the edge of the paper upward to the tear bar by 1/60-inch increments, press the LOAD/PARK key. Pressing the LF/FF key adjusts the paper downward in 1/60-inch increments. To save your adjustment, press the ON/OFF LINE key. This setting remains in effect, even if you turn the printer off, until you repeat this procedure to set a different tear-bar position. If you do not wish to save your adjustment, simply turn the printer off, and then on again while in the tear off adjustment mode. (LG/all-06/28/94)
