Four-In-One Remote Control (150-1909) Operation Faxback Doc. # 6724 To use the 4-in-1, do the following: 1. Press the device key for the device you want to control. 2. Point the 4-in-1 toward the device and press POWER to turn on the device. 3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for other devices. 4. Point the 4-in-1 toward the device you want to control and press the desired command keys. The command keys on the 4-in-1 work the same as the keys on the device's original remote control; however, the labeling might differ slightly. 5. To turn off the last device you selected, press POWER. To turn off other devices, press the device selection key for the device you want to turn off, and then press POWER. PUNCH THROUGH The punch through feature lets you alternately control two different devices without pressing the device keys for each one. Here's how it works. All of the 4-in-1's keys are not used by any one device. For example, a TV is often the only device that uses VOLUME keys, and a VCR is usually the only device that uses keys such as REWIND, FAST F, and so on. When you press TV and then press VCR, the functions of any keys not used by the VCR retain their TV functions. If your cable box or VCR has volume control in it you can turn off the punch through feature. This allows your cable box or VCR to control the volume of your TV set provided it already can do so. If you want to control volume through your cable box, you must be in the cable mode. If you want to control the volume through your VCR, you must be in the VCR mode. For example: When the remote is in the cable mode, you would press: PROG - 9 - 9 - 9 - CABLE - Volume Up When the indicator blinks three times, the volume will be controlled through your cable box. To turn on the punch through feature, repeat the procedure. To turn off the punch through feature for your VCR press: PROG - 9 - 9 - 9 - VCR - Volume Up When the indicator blinks three times, the volume will be controlled through your VCR. To turn on the punch through feature, repeat the procedure. The punch through feature does not work if the last two devices you select have the same (or similar) features. For example, most TVs and VCRs have CHANNEL keys on their remote controls. In this case, you would have to press the desired device key before you use the 4-in-1's CHANNEL keys. (br/all-6/29/94)
