ET-177 (430-0583) Operation Faxback Doc. # 6729 Use the phone to make and receive calls as you would on any other standard telephone. USING REDIAL Each time you dial a number, the telephone stores that number in a temporary memory. To call the last number dialed, lift the handset and press REDIAL. Notes: If you get a busy signal, you can redial again without returning the handset to its cradle. The redial memory does not store a FLASH entry or any keys you press before FLASH. USING FLASH Many special telephone services require a switchhook signal for access. When you press FLASH, the phone produces an electronic equivalent of a switchhook signal. For example, if you subscribe to call waiting (a special telephone company service), you can press FLASH to put your current call on hold and take another incoming call. Then you can repeatedly press FLASH to alternate between the two calls. Note: If you do not have a special telephone service that uses FLASH, you might disconnect the current call if you press FLASH. USING MUTE If you want to speak with someone in the room without the person on the phone hearing your conversation, press and hold MUTE. Release MUTE to resume your phone conversation. USING TONE SERVICES ON A PULSE LINE Some special services, such as bank-by-phone, require tone signals. If you have pulse service, you can still use these special tone services by setting TONE*PULSE to TONE at the point where the tone signals are required. If you do this, be sure to set TONE*PULSE back to PULSE when the call is over. Or, if TONE*PULSE is set to PULSE, you can just press * at the point where Tone signals are required. Further numbers dialed will now be sent as tone signals. After you hang up the phone, further numbers dialed will be sent with pulse signals (since TONE*PULSE automatically resets to PULSE on the next call). (br/all-7/11/94)
