BATTERY To use battery power, you need a 9-volt battery, such as Radio Shack Catalog Number 23-553 or 23-583 (Not included). Follow these steps to install the battery. 1. Remove the battery cover by pressing down on the cover and sliding it in the direction of the arrow. 2. Snap the battery connector over the battery contacts. 3. Place the battery in the battery compartment and replace the battery compartment cover. Note: Remove the battery if you do not plan to use the radio for a week or more, or if you use AC power. Weak batteries can leak chemicals and damage the radio. AC POWER To power your radio from a standard AC outlet, you will need an AC adapter (not included), such as Cat. No. 273-1431. Caution: You must use an adapter that supplies 7.5 to 9 volts and delivers at least 50 milliamps. Its plug must correctly fit the radio's DC 9V jack.
