An adjustable shoulder strap lets you take the lightweight, functionally designed CD-3200 with you anywhere. It's yours in the out-of-doors, in your car, or home. Any place you go, you can enjoy the latest in CD sound. You can listen in privacy through stereo headsets (not included). The CD-3200 operates from your choice of three power sources: AA batteries, 120 volts AC, or from your car's electrical system. The CD-3200 gives you complete freedom to enjoy it anywhere. It can even be played through your car's stereo or your home music system. Like all CD players, the CD-3200 uses a low-power laser beam to read digital information from the compact disc. Then, it converts that information into audio signals. Because only light touches the disc in a CD player, there is no disc wear during normal use. With proper care of the disc, the original sound quality will last indefinitely. If the disc becomes slightly scratched, the CD-3200's special error-correction circuits reconstruct the missing parts of the music. Even through the CD-3200 uses the most advanced technology available today, it is extremely simple to operate. You can begin using your player quickly by reading "Basic Operation." But, be sure to read the "Special Features (Faxback Doc.# 6832.txt)" section so that you can understand and use all the CD-3200's advanced features. Why Do CDs Sound Better? When played in a CD player, such as the CD-3200, the audio performance of a compact disc is dramatically better than that of a record or a cassette tape. You enjoy a cleaner, more realistic sound than ever before. For example: The signal-to-noise ratio is 80dB. This means that in the softer musical passages, you hear only the music, without the distracting hiss or scratch you often hear from records or tapes. The dynamic range (the volume difference between loud and soft passages) is 75dB, compared to 55-60dB for records. This means that you can enjoy realistic, exciting music reproduction, rivaling that of a live performance. The frequency response is 20-20,000Hz+0.5/-1.5dB. You hear the full frequency range of the music, from lowest bass to highest treble. Distortion, wow and flutter are far below levels detectable by the human ear. You hear clean, undistorted sound, without annoying pitch variations caused by changes in playback speed. In additional to sounding better, a compact disc can hold up to 75 minutes of music--more than both sides of a 12-inch LP record. Features Automatic Search Music System - Lets you quickly locate and play any track (individual song or selection) on a disc. Audible Search - Lets you locate a particular section, of the music by playing the disc rapidly in either direction. Random-Track Programming - Lets you program up to 16 tracks to play in any order you choose. Repeat Play - Lets you automatically repeat a single track, an entire disc, or a random- track program. Pause/Cue - Lets you temporarily stop play and then start the music from the point of the pause. Also lets you cue a track for immediate play at a later time. Digital Display - Shows you the number of tracks and the total playing time of a disc when you first load it. During play, you see the number of the current track and the elapsed time since the beginning of the track. The display also shows related information when you use special features, such as Random Track Programming. Tri-Spot Laser Tracking - Uses three beams of laser light to give you the most accurate tracking of digital information. 2-Times Oversampling with Digital Filtering - Makes the overall sound from the CD player more natural by reducing the need for radical filtering of the signals after they are converted from digital to analog.
