 The detachable control panel and LED helps to prevent theft of the stereo.
When the control panel is removed, the red LED below UP ARROW,UNDERLINED
WITH 2 RIGHT ARROW flashes, the display goes blank, the sound stops and
all controls become inoperable, dregardless of whether the stereo is
turned on or off.

Push down on the groove on top of the panel and pull it away from the
cassette player.

To re-enable the stereo, replace the panel.
