Portable TV (160-0126) Battery Faxback Doc. # 7011 This product is capable of using rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries. At the end of the batteries useful life, they must be recycled or disposed of properly. Contact your local, county or state hazardous waste management authorities for information on recycling or disposal programs in your area. Some options that might be available are: municipal curb-side collection, drop-off boxed at retailer, recycling collection centers, and mail-back programs. USING INTERNAL BATTERY POWER You can power the Portavision from eight D batteries. We recommend alkaline batteries (such as Cat. No. 23-550) for longest battery life. You can also use rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries (such as Cat. No. 23-123). Follow these steps to install batteries. NOTE: If you use rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries, you need a separate battery charger such as Cat. No. 23-132. 1. Carefully turn the TV/radio upside down and gently push the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrows. Then lift off the cover. 2. Install eight D batteries in the battery compartments as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the battery compartments. CAUTION: Installing the batteries incorrectly can damage your TV/radio. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. NOTES: -When the TV picture shrinks, replace the batteries. -Battery life can vary greatly, depending on how you use your TV/radio. TV operation drains batteries faster than radio operation. -If you do not intend to use your TV/radio for a month or more, remove the batteries. Never store your TV/radio with batteries inside. They can leak damaging chemicals. (smc-02/22/94)
