Built-In Antenna

You can receive VHF and UHF broadcast signals by using the built-in
telescoping signals by using the built-in telescoping antenna, which
usually provides good receptions for  the FM radio and TV.

-Extend the antenna vertically to it's full length for channels 2 through
 6 (VHG-LOW).

-Extend the antenna to a shorter length for channels 7 to 13 (VHF-HIGH).

For best UHF reception, use the antenna at it's full length for channels
14 to 69.

OUTDOOR ANTENNA

For improved reception, connect a standard outdoor VHG/UHF antenna to the
EXT ANT jack on the back of the TV/radio using the following guidelines.

-If the outdoor antenna write is 300-ohm double lead-inwire, connect the
 wire using the supplied external 300-ohm antenna adapter.

-If the outdoor antenna wire or CATV cable is 75-ohm coaxial cable,
 connect the cable to the TV/radio's EXT ANT jack using an F-to-1/8-inch
 mini plug adapter (such as Cat. No. 278-257, not included).

WARNING:

When you install an outdoor antenna, use extreme caution.  If the antenna
starts to fall, let it go!  It could contact overhead power lines.  If the
antenna touches the power line, contact with the antenna, mast, cable or
guy wires can cause electrocution and death.  Call the power company to
remove the antenna.  Do not attempt to remove it yourself!

NOTES:

-Your local Radio Shack store has a wide selection of antennas and
 adapters to choose from.

-For better reception in your vehicle, you can connect a mobile TV antenna
 (such as Cat. No. 15-1614, not included).

-The TV is not "cable ready" in that it cannot receive cable channels 14
 or higher.  But it can receive cable channels 2 through 13 and also cable
 channel 1 (if available).  When you can tune to on Channel 14.

NOTE TO CATV SYSTEM INSTALLER:

This reminder is provided to call the CATV System installer's attention to
article 820-22 of the NEC that provides guidelines for proper grounding
and, in particular, specifies that the cable entry is practical.

PRIVATE LISTENING

For private listening, you can connect an optional earphone/headphone with
a 1/8-inch mini plug.  Your local Radio Shack store has a wide selection
of earphones and headphones to choose from.

Insert the earphone/headphone's plug into the EAR jack on the back of the
TV/radio.  This automatically disconnect the TV/radio's internal speaker.

NOTE:  The sound is mono, even with headphones.

LISTENING SAFELY

Follow these guidelines to protect your hearing when you use headphones.

-Do not listen at extremely high volume levels.  Extended, high volume
 listening can lead to permanent hearing loss.

-Always start by setting the volume to the lowest level possible before
 your begin to listening.  Put the earphone/headphones on, then gradually
 increase the volume as necessary.

-Once you set the volume, do not increase it.  Over a period of time, your
 ears adapt to the volume level, so a volume level that does not cause
 discomfort might still damage your hearing.

TRAFFIC SAFETY

Do not wear earphone/headphones while operating a motor vehicle.  Even
though some earphone/headphones are designed to let you hear some outside
sounds when listening at normal volume levels, they still present a
traffic hazard and are illegal in some areas.
