Cable TV Amplifier (150-1960A) Installation Faxback Doc. # 7148 CONNECTING THE AMPLIFIER To connect the amplifier, you need three 75-ohm coaxial cables rated for cable TV use. If your TV only has 300-ohm antenna terminals, you also need a 75/300 ohm adapter (such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 15-1140). Amplifying Scrambled (Raw) Signals You can connect your cable service to the amplifier before you connect it to the cable box. This connection lets you send the scrambled ("raw") cable signal to two video receivers. However, if you only use one cable box as a video receiver, only the TV connected to the cable box receives the unscrambled channels. 1. Connect a 75-ohm coaxial cable between the cable's outlet and the amplifier's INPUT terminal. 2. Connect another 75-ohm coaxial cable between one of the amplifier's OUTPUT terminals and your TV, VCR, or cable box input terminal. 3. If desired, connect another 75-ohm coaxial cable between the amplifier's other OUTPUT terminal and a second TV, VCR, or cable box input terminal. Amplifying Unscrambled Signals You can connect your cable service to the amplifier after you connect it to the cable box. This connection lets you send the unscrambled cable signal to two video receivers. However, because you must use the cable box to change channels, you cannot set two TVs to two different channels. 1. Connect a 75-ohm coaxial cable between your cable box output terminal and the amplifier's INPUT terminal. 2. Connect another 75-ohm coaxial cable between one of the amplifier's OUTPUT terminals and a TV or VCR input terminal. 3. Connect another 75-ohm coaxial cable between the amplifiers other OUTPUT terminal and a second TV or VCR input terminal. NOTE: If you are using a combination of TVs and/or VCRs, set them to the same output channel (Channel 3 or 4) as your cable box. MOUNTING THE AMPLIFIER Using mounting screws (not supplied), mount the amplifier on the wall near your TV, VCR, or cable box, near the antenna wire or cable outlet, and near an AC outlet. SUPPLYING POWER To power the amplifier, plug the amplifier's AC cord into a standard AC outlet. (CJD/all-7/8//94)
