Micronta Monitor (630-0664) Features Faxback Doc. # 7182 Your Micronta Biofeedback Monitor uses electronics to detect internal body changes caused by stress. In a stressed-out world, the monitor can help you learn how to control tension. Because of its compact size, you can take your Biofeedback Monitor with you and practice stress control wherever you go. How It Works The monitor measures galvanic skin resistance (GSR), a reflection of sweat gland activity and pore size. Both are controlled by the sympathetic nervous system. When you become excited or disturbed to any extent, the sympathetic nervous system causes chemical and physical changes in your body. These changes affect your body's GSR. When you're calm and relaxed, your GSR increases. When you're tense and excited, your GSR decreases. These GSR changes influence the sound that comes from the audio oscillator in the monitor. A high-pitched buzz tone...shows you are tense and feeling stress. A slow popping sound ...means you are calm and relaxed. (br/all-7/18/94)
