CD-3314 (140-0538) Power Sources Faxback Doc. # 7197 USING INTERNAL BATTERY POWER You can power the CD-3314 from eight D batteries (not supplied). For the best results, we recommend alkaline batteries (such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-550). 1. Press the two tabs on the battery compartment cover and pull out the cover to remove it. 2. If necessary, remove and dispose of the old batteries. CAUTIONS: To protect the CD-3314 from possible battery leakage, never leave dead, weak, or old batteries in the CD-3314. If you do not plan to use the CD-3314 for a month or more, or if you plan to use the external AC power cord or a DC-to-AC inverter, remove the batteries. 3. Insert eight fresh D batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbol ( + and - ) marked above the compartment. CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type. Never mix fresh with old batteries. 4. Replace the battery compartment cover. NOTE: If the CD-3314's sound weakens or distorts, replace the batteries. USING STANDARD AC POWER To power the CD-3314 from standard AC power, plug the supplied AC power, plug the supplied AC power cord into AC on the back of the unit. Then plug the other end into a standard AC outlet. CAUTIONS: To avoid exposure to hazardous voltage: Always plug the AC power cord into AC before you plug it into the standard AC outlet. . Always unplug your AC power cord from the standard AC outlet before you unplug it from AC. NOTE: The CD-3314 automatically disconnects the internal batteries when you connect the AC power cord. USING VEHICLE BATTERY POWER You can power the CD-3314 from your vehicle's battery using a DC-to-AC Inverter (such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 22-132, not supplied). Follow the instructions included with the inverter. CAUTION: To avoid exposure to hazardous voltage: Always plug the AC power cord into AC and the inverter before you plug the inverter's plug into your car's cigarette-lighter socket. Always unplug the inverter from your car's cigarette-lighter socket before you unplug the power cord from AC or the inverter. If the CD-3314 produces a hum when you turn it off, unplug the inverter from your car's cigarette-lighter socket. (CJD/all-07/19/94)
