SETTING THE RINGER VOLUME Set RINGER OFF/LO/HI to LO or HI for the desired volume level for each line. Set the switch to OFF to turn off the ringer. In the OFF position, you can still use the telephone to place and receive calls if you hear another extension or see one of the line indicators flash. SETTING THE NORM/STORE BATT TEST SWITCH Leave NORM/STORE BATT TEST set to NORM except when entering numbers in memory or when checking the battery condition. CONFIRMING THE LINE NUMBERS To confirm which of the two telephone numbers is connected to Line 1 and which is connected to Line 2, press LINE 1 and lift the handset. Then enter one of the line's telephone numbers. If Line 2's line-status indicator blinks rapidly, then the number you dialed is connected to Line 2. If you hear a busy signal, the number is connected to Line 1. After you identify each line, enter the line's corresponding phone number on the LINE 1/LINE 2 telephone number card above the line-status indicator. Use a paper clip or other pointed object to lift the plastic cover off the telephone number card. Write the telephone number for each line in the space provided. Use a pencil, in case the number changes. Replace the number card's cover. NOTE: If you have a special telephone service such as Roll-Over or Hunt, incoming calls to a busy line automatically switch to the next available telephone line. (all-08/11/94)
