Telephone Line (430-0483) Installation Faxback Doc. # 7415 Intercom Set CHOOSING A LOCATION You can place each intercom on a flat surface such as a desk, shelf, or table, mount them directly on the wall, or mount one in each location. Select locations where each intercom is: Near an AC outlet Near a phone line jack Out of the way of normal activities in the area Note: You cannot use your intercom set between extensions connected via a switchboard, or to a PBX or electronic key phone system. Each intercom connects directly to a modular telephone line jack. Your telephone wiring must be either a single- or dual-line type. If your telephone wiring does not have modular jacks, you can: Update the wiring yourself. Radio Shack stores sell the jacks and adapters to convert older wiring methods to modular wiring. Have the telephone company update the wiring for you. The telephone company might ask you for the USOC number of the jacks to be installed. This number is RJ11 for single-line installation or RJ14 for dual-line installation. Note: The telephone company charges to install the necessary jacks. Thread the supplied AC adapter's cord through the strain relief slot on the back of the intercom. 2. Insert the AC adapter's barrel plug into the DC7.5V jack on the back of the intercom.
