System 714 (130-1261) CD PLAYER Faxback Doc. # 7475 LOADING AND PLAYING A CD Your CD player can play either 3- or 5-inch compact disks. 1. Pass TAPE/CD/TUNER to the out position to select the CD. The CD display lights. 2. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the CD compartment. CAUTION: You must press OPEN/CLOSE to open or close the CD compartment. Never force the compartment or you might damage its loading mechanism and the CD. 3. Carefully load the CD in the recessed part of the compartment, with the label side up. 4. Press OPEN/CLOSE to close the CD compartment. The display shows the total number of tracks and the CD's total playing time, then it momentarily shows the current track's number and elapsed time. 5. Press PLAY/PAUSE to start Track 1 and play all the tracks in order. >, the current track number, and the track's elapsed time appear on the display. Press PLAY/PAUSE to stop the CD temporarily. > flashes. Press PLAY/PAUSE again to resume playing the CD. 6. Press (or press and hold) VOLUME /\ or \/ to adjust the volume. 7. Adjust BALANCE until the sound comes equally from the left and right speakers. 8. Press E-BASS for enhanced bass effects. 9. Adjust the 5-Band Equalizer as desired. (See "Using the 5-Band Equalizer.") 10. Press STOP to stop playing the CD before it ends. NOTE: The CD automatically stops when a disc reaches the end. SEARCHING FOR TRACKS Direct Search If the disc is not playing, repeatedly press either |<< or >>| until the display shows the number of the track you want to play. Skip Search If the disc is playing: * Press |<< once to return to the beginning of the current track. * Press |<< twice to return to the beginning of the previous track. * Press >>| to skip to the beginning of the next track. The CD player momentarily stops playing while it searches, then starts playing again at the beginning of the selected track and plays to the end of the CD. AUTOMATIC SEARCH MUSIC SYSTEM The automatic search music system lets you quickly locate a section of any track on the CD. To search forward on the CD, press and hold SEARCH >> during play. As you press and hold SEARCH >>, the time counter advances on the display and the CD plays at an accelerated rate. Release SEARCH >> to resume normal play. To search backward on the CD, press and hold SEARCH << during play. As you press and hold SEARCH <<, the time counter reverses on the display and the CD plays at an accelerated rate. Release SEARCH << to resume normal play. SCANNING THE TRACKS Press INTRO PLAY to begin scanning. * If you begin scanning when the CD player is stopped, the CD player plays the first 10 seconds of each track starting at the beginning of the first track. * If you begin scanning when the CD player is playing, the CD player plays the first 10 seconds of each track starting at the beginning of the next track. When the player begins to play a desired track, press INTRO PLAY to continue playing that track. PROGRAMMED PLAY You can program up to 24 tracks on a CD so you can play them in the programmed order. 1. Press STOP as necessary until the display shows Track 1 and 0:00. This indicates that the memory has been cleared. 2. Press MEMORY. PROGRAM, TRACK, and P-01 (the memory location for the first programmed track) appear on the display. 3. Press any one of the TRACK numbers to store the first track in the first memory location. NOTE: For track numbers higher than 9, press +10 first, then press the desired TRACK number. 4. Repeat Step 3 for each track you want to program, up to 24 tracks. NOTE: If you store more than 24 tracks, they begin to replace previously stored tracks starting at the beginning of the stored sequence. 5. Press PLAY/PAUSE. The CD player plays the tracks in the order you pro- grammed them. PROGRAM appears on the display. NOTES: During play, you can press SKIP + and - to move through the programmed sequence. (See "Skip Search.") During play, you can replace any programmed track you are playing. However, the original track remains in the memory location. To clear the program memory, press STOP twice or press OPEN/CLOSE to open the CD compartment. REPEAT PLAY You can repeat the current track, the entire CD, or a programmed sequence. To replay the current track, press REPEAT during play until REPEAT 1 appears on the display. When the CD reaches the end of the current track, the CD player replays the same track. To replay the entire CD, press REPEAT during play until REPEAT ALL appears on the display. When the CD reaches the end of all the tracks, the CD player replays the entire CD. To replay a programmed sequence, press REPEAT during play until REPEAT ALL and PROGRAM appear on the display. When the CD reaches the end of the cur- rent track, the CD player replays the programmed sequence. To turn off repeat play, press REPEAT until neither REPEAT nor REPEAT ALL appear on the display. To stop repeat play but keep the selected repeat play function (repeat 1 or repeat all), press STOP. (tlc/all-08/31/94)
