System 1035 (130-1255) CD Changer Faxback Doc. # 7485 Your system's compact disc changer lets you play CDs with the touch of a button and program your CDs to play in a selected order. Important Note: You must remove the shipping pin and screws before use. LOADING AND PLAYING CDs 1. Press POWER/STANDBY to turn on the system. 2. Press CD. The CD indicator lights. 3. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc drawer. 4. Place one CD in each disc holder, label side up. You can load up to 5 CDs. NOTE: To play a 3-inch CD, place it in the middle of the tray. CAUTION: Do not stack CDs in the tray. This could damage the player and the CDs. 5. Press DISC SKIP to turn the carousel and expose other trays. Then, load the CD(s). NOTE: Each disc holder is labeled with a number to the right. 6. Press OPEN/CLOSE. The disc drawer closes. 7. Press the desired DISC NUMBER button (1-5). The disc number appears on the display. 8. Press PLAY/PAUSE. Playback begins from Track 1 on the displayed disc. The play indicator (>) appears on the display. After the changer plays all tracks on the current CD, it automatically loads the next higher-numbered CD and plays all of its tracks. After it plays all tracks on the highest-numbered CD, the changer stops. While a CD plays, the display shows the number of the current disc, the current track, the index, and the elapsed time from the beginning of the track. NOTE: Not all CDs have index information. 9. To temporarily stop play, press PLAY/PAUSE. PAUSE appears on the display. Press PLAY/PAUSE again to resume play. 10. Press STOP to stop play before the last disc ends. NOTES: Do not place anything other than CDs in the CD drawer. Do not touch the carousel while it is rotating. Do not rotate or stop the carousel by hand. If you do so by accident, the carousel might not stop at the correct position. If this occurs, carefully set the carousel to the correct position by hand as shown below. If something gets caught in the disc drawer as it closes, immediately press OPEN/CLOSE to open the drawer. Do not turn off the power. Do not move the system while a CD is playing or when a CD is the disc drawer. OTHER FEATURES AUTOMATIC SEARCH MUSIC SYSTEM (ASMS) To select a track on the currently selected CD, repeatedly press ASMS (Automatic Search Music System) |<< / << or >> / >>| until the desired track number appears on the display. If the changer is stopped, press PLAY/PAUSE to play the track. If a CD is playing, the selected track automatically starts playing when you release ASMS |<< / << or >> / >>|. AUDIBLE SEARCH To search for a particular section on a track, press and hold down SEARCH |<< / << or >> / >>| during play. The CD changer rapidly plays in the direction of the arrows. When you hear the section you want, release SEARCH |<< / << or >> / >>| to resume normal play. NOTES: In the forward direction, audible search will continue disc to disc, except in the REPEAT ALL mode. In the reverse direction, the CD changer will stop when the beginning of the first track on the disc being played is reached. SEQUENCE PROGRAMMING You can program up to 32 selections to play in any order you choose. A se- lection can be an individual track or an entire disc. You can program the same track or disc more than once. 1. Press STOP to cancel any CD function. 2. Press MEMORY. PROG flashes on the display. 3. Select the desired CD number. 4. Repeatedly press ASMS until the desired track number appears on the display. If you want to select the entire CD, skip this step. 5. Press MEMORY to store the displayed track number in the first memory position. 6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to store other tracks on the same CD or repeat Steps 3-5 to store tracks on another CD. You can program up to 32 selections. 7. Press PLAY/PAUSE. The CD changer plays the tracks in the order you programmed them. NOTE: If the programmed selection does not exist while the CD changer plays, the CD changer skips the programmed selection and plays the next programmed selection. If you try to store more than 32 selections, FULL appears on the display for about 3 seconds. You can use audible search and ASMS while a programmed sequence plays. CLEARING THE PROGRAMMED SEQUENCE To clear the programmed sequence, press STOP twice. If you disconnect the power plug or press OPEN/CLOSE, the programmed sequence is also cleared. CHECKING THE PROGRAMMED SEQUENCE After you stop play or finish programming, repeatedly press MEMORY to dis- play the programmed tracks one by one. CHANGING THE PROGRAMMED SEQUENCE Follow these steps to change a programmed sequence. 1. After you stop play, repeatedly press MEMORY until the display shows the memory position you want to change. 2. Select the new disc and track. 3. Press MEMORY. To play the revised sequence, press PLAY/PAUSE. The program starts to play from the first selection. ADDING TO THE PROGRAMMED SEQUENCE Follow these steps to add to the end of the programmed sequence. 1. Press STOP. 2. Repeatedly press MEMORY until - - - - appears on the display. 3. Select a disc and track number. Then press MEMORY. To play the CD, press PLAY/PAUSE. The program starts to play from the first selection. INTRO SCAN The intro scan feature lets you play the first 10 seconds of each track of normal or programmed play. To use this feature, simply press INTRO. INTRO appears on the display. Press INTRO again to return to normal play. You can use the ASMS feature during intro scan to skip forward or backward before the 10 seconds is up. RANDOM PLAY This feature randomly selects tracks from all of the loaded CDs. After one track plays, the changer automatically selects another track. NOTE: During random play, the changer might play a selection twice, but it will not play the same selection two times in a row. To stop random play, press STOP. RANDOM disappears from the display. RANDOM INTRO SCAN To play the first 10 seconds of each track at random, press INTRO, then RANDOM. Press INTRO again to return to random play. REPEAT PLAY You can repeat play of all tracks on all CDs in the CD compartment, or any single track, or you can use the repeat feature with program play. To repeat one track, press REPEAT until REPEAT ONE appears on the display. To repeat all tracks on the selected disc, press REPEAT until REPEAT ALL appears on the display. To repeat all CDs, press REPEAT until REPEAT CONTINUE appears on the display. To repeat a programmed sequence, you can select REPEAT ONE for a single selection of the sequence or REPEAT ALL for all selections of the sequence. To cancel repeat, press REPEAT so none of the above indicators appear on the display. DISPLAYING REMAINING TIMES Press DISPLAY on the remote control during play to display the current track's remaining time. REMAIN appears and the current track's remaining time counts down. Press DISPLAY again to display the remaining time of the CD's total remaining time. TOTAL REMAIN appears. Press DISPLAY once more to return to showing the elapsed time of the current track. NOTES: If you press DISPLAY while playing a programmed sequence, the CD changer does not display the total remaining time. The displayed play times may differ slightly from the times listed on the notes accompanying the CD. (tlc/all-08/31/94)
