8" Bandpass Box Speaker (120-1731) Installation Faxback Doc. # 7519 You can connect your speaker either as one in a pair of speakers or as a single speaker. For the best performance, we recommend you drive the speaker with a high-power amplifier (at least 50 Watts). Radio Shack stores sell several suitable amplifiers. NOTE: Speaker wires are usually color coded or otherwise marked to indicate polarity. Be sure to connect the wire from the amplifier's + output to the speaker's + terminal, and from the amplifier's - output to the speaker's - terminal. If you reverse these connections, bass response is greatly reduced. See your amplifier's manual for speaker cable recommendations. CONNECTING A PAIR OF SPEAKERS 1. Connect the amplifier to your stereo system, as described in your amplifier and stereo's owner's manuals. 2. Connect one speaker cable to the amplifier's left channel output and another speaker cable to the amplifier's right channel output. 3. Strip about 1/2 inch of insulation from the ends of both wires on each speaker cable. 4. Loosen the speaker's terminal posts and insert one of the speaker wire's bare ends in each hole. Then tighten the terminal posts. CONNECTING A SINGLE SPEAKER To connect a single speaker, you must use an amplifier that can bridge (combine) the stereo's right and left channels into a single output. 1. Follow your amplifier's and stereo system's owner's manuals to connect the amplifier to the stereo. 2. Follow the amplifier's owner's manual to bridge the amplifier's output for a single speaker. 3. Connect a speaker cable to the amplifier's output. 4. Strip about 1/2 inch of insulation from the ends of both wires on the speaker cable. 5. Loosen the speaker's terminal posts and insert the speaker wire's bare ends in the holes. Then tighten the terminal posts. (ALL-9/15/94)
