System 719 (130-1266) CD Changer Faxback Doc. # 7564 Your system's compact disc changer lets you play CDs with the touch of a button and program your CDs to play in a selected order. Your CD changer is 3-inch CD compatible. LOADING AND PLAYING CDS 1. Press CD to use the CD changer. The CD indicator on the stereo control amplifier lights. 2. Lift the CD compartment cover to expose the CD holder trays. 3. Place one CD (or more) in the middle of any of the four exposed CD trays, label side up. NOTE: Each CD holder is labeled with a number. CAUTIONS: Do not stack CDs. This could damage the player and the CDs. Do not place anything other than CDs on the CD changer. Do not move the system while a CD is playing or loaded. 4. Press STOP/DISC SKIP on the CD changer (or DISC SKIP on the remote control) to rotate the carousel and expose the next CD holder. Then, load another CD. CAUTIONS: Do not touch the carousel while it is rotating. Do not rotate or stop the carousel by hand. If you do, ER appears on the CD's display. To clear the ER, press POWER to turn off the system's power and then press it again to turn the power back on. 5. Push down the CD compartment cover to close it. 6. Press DISC NUMBER to the desired button (1 - 5). The CD number appears on the display. 7. Press PLAY/PROG PLAY. Playback begins from Track 1 on the displayed CD number and > appears on the display. While a CD plays, the display shows the current CD number and track, and the elapsed time from the beginning of the track. When the changer has played all the tracks on the current CD, it automatically loads the next higher-numbered CD and plays all of its tracks. CAUTION: The CD changer has a wide dynamic range. As a result, if you turn the amplifier's volume too high during soft (low volume) sections of a program, you might damage your speakers or your hearing when a sudden loud passage occurs. 8. To temporarily stop play, press PAUSE. || appears on the display. Press PLAY/PROG PLAY again to resume play. To stop play completely before the last CD ends, press STOP. AUTOMATIC SEARCH MUSIC SYSTEM To select a track on the currently selected CD, repeatedly press ASMS (Automatic Search Music System)|<< or >>| until the desired track number appears on the display. If the changer is stopped, press PLAY/PROG PLAY to play the track. If a CD is playing, the selected track automatically starts playing when you release ASMS |<< or >>|. AUDIBLE SEARCH Follow these steps to search for a particular section on a track. 1. Press PAUSE. || appears on the display. 2. Press ASMS |<< or >>|. The CD changer rapidly plays in the direction of the arrows. NOTES: When you press >>| (forward), audible search and playback stops at the end of the CD. When you press |<< (reverse), audible search and playback stops at the beginning of the first track. Then, the CD changer returns to normal play. 3. When you hear the section you want, press PLAY/PROG PLAY to resume normal play. PROGRAMMED PLAY PROGRAMMING A SEQUENCE OF TRACKS You can program up to 32 tracks to play in any order you choose. You can program a track to play more than once. 1. Press STOP to cancel any other CD function. 2. Select the desired CD number. 3. Repeatedly press ASMS |<< or >>| until the desired track number appears on the display. 4. Press PROGRAM MEMORY to store the displayed track number in the first memory position. The memory position number and MEMORY appear on the display. 5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to store other tracks from the same CD. Repeat Steps 2 - 4 to store other tracks from other CDs. 6. Press PLAY/PROG PLAY. The CD changer plays the tracks in the programmed order. NOTES: If the programmed selection does not exist while the CD changer plays, the next programmed selection. If you try to store more than 32 selections, END appears on the display for about 3 seconds. You can use audible search and ASMS while a programmed sequence plays. ADDING TO THE PROGRAMMED SEQUENCE Follow these steps to add to the end of the programmed sequence. 1. Press STOP to cancel any other CD function. 2. Select the desired CD number. 3. Repeatedly press ASMS |<< or >>| until the desired track number appears on the display. 4. Press PROGRAM MEMORY to store the displayed track number in the first memory position. The memory position number and MEMORY appear on the display. 5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to store other tracks from the same CD. Repeat Steps 2 - 4 to store other tracks from other CDs. To play the programmed sequence, press PLAY/PROG PLAY. The program starts to play from the first selection. CLEARING THE PROGRAMMED SEQUENCE To clear the programmed sequence, press STOP/DISC SKIP, then CLEAR. Each time you press CLEAR, you clear one programmed selection, beginning with the last programmed track. To clear all programmed tracks, press POWER to turn off the system. RESERVE PLAY PROGRAMMING THE RESERVE MEMORY You can program a sequence of up to 10 tracks for each CD you store in re- serve memory -- up to 15 CDs (a total of 150 tracks). When you play a CD stored in reserve memory, the CD changer automatically recalls the stored sequence. This means you can program a CD to only play tracks you like. 1. Select the desired CD number. 2. Press PLAY/PROG PLAY. 3. After the CD changer starts playing the beginning of the first track, press STOP. NOTE: Be sure to perform Steps 2 and 3. Reserve memory can only be used after the contents of a CD have been read by the CD changer. 4. Repeatedly press ASMS |<< or >>| until the desired track number appears on the display. 5. Press RESERVE MEMORY. The RESERVE MEMORY indicator lights red for ap- proximately 1 second. 6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to store other tracks from the same CD or repeat Steps 1-5 to store tracks from other CDs. You can replace the CDs on the tray to store up to 15 CDs in reserve memory. 7. Place the programmed CD you want to listen to on the tray. You can place the CD in any CD position. 8. Press RESERVE PLAY. The CD changer automatically plays the tracks as you programmed them. The RESERVE MEMORY indicator lights orange. NOTES: If you play a CD not stored in reserve memory, the RESERVE MEMORY indicator lights green, and normal play starts. You can use ASMS during reserve play. If you want to store new tracks from a C you had previously stored, all the old tracks are cleared, and new tracks are substituted. Reserve memory does not function in the following situations, even when you press RESERVE MEMORY. When you try to store more than 10 tracks from one CD into memory. When you try to store more than 15 CDs into memory. The RESERVE MEMORY indicator flashes to indicate that reserve memory is not working. CLEARING THE RESERVE MEMORY Follow these steps to clear the reserve memory CD by CD. 1. Select the CD you stored in reserve memory and press RESERVE PLAY. The RESERVE MEMORY indicator lights orange. 2. Press CLEAR. The CD changer clears its memory of the reserve memory tracks it had stored from the CD. The RESERVE MEMORY indicator turns green. Follow these steps to clear all the reserve memory for all CDs. 1. Press POWER to turn off the system. 2. While pressing RESERVE MEMORY and CLEAR, press POWER to turn on the system. CL appears on the display for several seconds, and all the memories are cleared. REPEAT PLAY You can repeat all the tracks on all the loaded CDs, a programmed sequence, or a single track. REPEAT ALL To repeatedly play all the loaded CDs, press PLAY/PROG PLAY to start play. Then, press REPEAT on the remote control until a half-oval with a an arrow on the bottom line appears on the display. The CD changer repeatedly plays all the tracks in all the loaded CDs in the carousel. REPEAT A PROGRAMMED SEQUENCE 1. Program the desired sequence (see "Programming Tracks"). 2. Press PLAY/PROG PLAY to start play. 3. Press REPEAT on the remote control until a half-oval with a an arrow on the bottom line appears on the display. The CD changer repeatedly plays all the programmed tracks. REPEAT A SINGLE TRACK 1. Program only the track you want to repeat (see "Programming Tracks"). 2. Press PLAY/PROG PLAY to start play. 3. Press REPEAT on the remote control until a half-oval with a an arrow on the bottom line appears on the display. The CD changer repeatedly plays the single programmed track. RANDOM PLAY This feature randomly selects tracks from all of the loaded CDs. After one track plays, the changer automatically selects another track. 1. To start random play, press RANDOM. RANDOM appears on the display. 2. Press PLAY/PROG PLAY to start random play. NOTE: During random play, the changer might play a selection twice, but not in a row. To cancel random play, press RANDOM until RANDOM disappears from the dis- play. Normal play continues. (tlc/all-09/15/94)
