EC-451 (650-0893) Battery Replacement Faxback Doc. # 7608 Although your calculator uses solar power most of the time, the back-up battery might eventually weaken and require replacement. If the display speed slows down in a dark room, replace the battery with an 389A button- cell battery. We recommend Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-117. 1. Remove the screw from the back cover using a small Phillips screwdriver. 2. Insert a small, flat-blade screwdriver between the case halves. Twist the screwdriver slightly to separate the front and back cases. 3. Remove the old battery. Dispose of it promptly and properly. 4. Install the new battery with the positive (=) side up. 5. Snap the case halves back together. 6. Secure the back cover with the screw. Warning: Do not allow children to play with batteries. Swallowing a button-cell battery can be fatal. CARE AND MAINTENANCE The EC-451 Dual-Powered Calculator is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for the calculator so you can enjoy it for years. Keep the calculator dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids can contain minerals that can corrode electronic circuits. Use and store the calculator only in normal temperature environments. Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and distort or melt plastic parts. Handle the calculator gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage circuit boards and cases and can cause the calculator to work improperly. Keep the calculator away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts. Wipe the calculator with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the calculator. Modifying or tampering with your calculator's internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty. If your calculator is not performing as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance. (br/all-9/19/94)
