Minisette-20 (140-1055) Power Supply Faxback Doc. # 7726 You can operate your Minisette-20 from any one of these three power sources: Standard household AC power Internal batteries 12-volt vehicle battery INSTALLING/REPLACING BATTERIES You can power the Minisette-20 with two standard, extra-life, or alkaline AA batteries. However, for longest battery life and optimum performance, we strongly recommend Radio Shack's alkaline batteries, such as Cat. No. 23-552. 1. Press down on the battery compartment cover and slide it off in the direction of the arrow. 2. Install two AA batteries, observing correct polarity (+ and -). 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. Check the condition of the batteries by pressing any button other than the [RECORD] button. If the REC/BATT indicator does not light (or lights dimly), it is time to replace the batteries. USING A VEHICLE BATTERY You can operate the Minisette-20 from your vehicle's battery, provided the vehicle has a 12-volt, negative-ground electrical system. Use only the correct Radio Shack DC Adapter (Cat. No. 270-1560). Using any other adapter might damage the recorder or the vehicle. 1. Set the adapter's voltage switch to 3V. 2. Connect the adapter's smallest coaxial barrel plug (black) to the adapter with the tip set to NEG (negative). 3. Insert the barrel plug into the Minisette-20's DC 3V jack. 4. Plug the other end of the adapter into the vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket. When using a DC adapter, the internal batteries are automatically disconnected. When you finish using the unit, always disconnect the adapter from the cigarette-lighter socket first. If the Minisette-20 does not operate properly when powered from a cigarette-lighter socket, unplug the adapter and clean ashes and other debris from the socket. This enables the adapter to make better contact. USING HOUSEHOLD POWER You can power the Minisette-20 from standard AC power, provided you use the proper Radio Shack AC Adapter (Cat. No. 273-1654). Use the adapter's black barrel plug with the tip set to the NEG (negative). Plug the adapter into the Minisette-20's DC 3V jack first. Then, plug the adapter's power module into a standard AC outlet. When using the AC adapter, the internal batteries are automatically disconnected. CAUTION: B e sure to use only Cat. No. 273-1654. Any other adapter might damage the unit. When you finish using the unit, always disconnect the adapter from the AC outlet first. (ALL-9/29/94)
