CTR-73 (140-1053/A) Power Supply Faxback Doc. # 7729 You can operate the CTR-73 using any of these power sources: Household AC Four Alkaline C Batteries 12V automotive battery (with an optional DC adapter) INSTALLING BATTERIES 1. Press down on the battery compartment cover, and slide it in the direction of the arrow. 2. Insert four C batteries, Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-551 or the equivalent. Position the batteries as illustrated. 3. Replace the compartment cover. CHECKING THE BATTERY CONDITION 1. Press the PLAY, REWIND, or FAST-F key. 2. If the RECORD/BATTERY indicator lights continuously, replace all four batteries at the same time. USING HOUSEHOLD AC Connect the small plug of the supplied AC cord to the AC POWER jack on the unit. Insert the other end of the cord into a standard household AC outlet. NOTE: When you connect the AC cord, the CTR-73 automatically disconnects the internal batteries. WARNING: Never leave the power cord connected to an AC outlet when the other end is removed from the AC jack on the unit. This presents a serious shock hazard. USING AN AUTOMOTIVE BATTERY You can operate the CTR-73 in a car that has a 12 Volt DC, negative-ground electrical system using a DC adapter (Cat. No. 14-844D) 1. Set the switch on the adapter to 6V. 2. Insert the adapter plug into the DC 6V jack on the recorder. Plug the other end of the adapter into the cigarette lighter socket of the vehicle. When you connect the vehicle adapter, the CTR-73 automatically disconnects the internal batteries. CAUTION: Do not let the adapter's plug contact any metal parts of the vehicle while the adapter is plugged into the cigarette lighter socket. A harmful short can occur that can damage the adapter or the vehicle's electrical system. (ALL-9/27/94)
