MICRO-26 (140-1043) Power Source Faxback Doc. # 7733 You can operate your recorder using any of these power sources: Internal batteries Standard household AC power Vehicle battery power USING INTERNAL BATTERIES You can power the Micro-26 recorder with two standard, extralife, or alkaline AAA batteries. However, for longest battery life and optimum performance, we strongly recommend alkaline batteries such as Radio Shack's Cat. No. 23-555. 1. Press down on the battery compartment cover, on the back of the recorder, and slide the cover off in the direction indicated by the arrow. 2. Install two AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -). 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. NOTE: The REC/BATT indicator lights, while recording, according to the condition of the batteries. If the indicator is dim, you need to replace the batteries. USING AC POWER You can power your recorder from standard AC power provided you use Radio Shack's AC adapter (Cat. No. 273-1654). 1. Connect the black adaptaplug to the adapter's cord, with the tip set to NEG (negative). Set the voltage switch on the adapter to 3V. 2. Connect the adapter plug to the MICRO-26 recorder's DC 3V jack. 3. Connect the adapter's power module to an AC outlet. Connecting the AC adapter automatically disconnects the internal batteries. When you finish using the recorder, always disconnect the adapter from the AC outlet first. CAUTION: Be sure to use only suggested adapter. Failure to do so could damage your recorder and adapter. USING VEHICLE BATTERY POWER You can power the Micro-26 recorder from your vehicle battery, provided the vehicle has a 12-volt, negative-ground electrical system. Use only Radio Shack's DC adapter (Cat. No. 270-1560). Using any other adapter might damage the recorder or your vehicle. 1. Set the adapter's voltage switch to 3V. 2. Connect the adapter's coaxial barrel plug (black) to the adapter's cord with the tip set to negative. 3. Connect the coaxial barrel plug to the Micro-26 recorder's DC 3V jack. 4. Plug the other end of the adapter into your vehicle's cigarette- lighter socket. Connecting the DC adapter automatically disconnects the internal batteries. When you finish using the recorder, always disconnect the adapter from the cigarette-lighter socket first. If the Micro-26 recorder does not operate properly when powered form a cigarette-lighter socket, unplug the adapter and clean ashes and other debris from the socket. (ALL-9/27/94)
