MICRO-26 (140-1043) Operation Faxback Doc. # 7734 LOADING THE MICROCASSETTE 1. Press [STOP/EJECT] to open the cassette compartment. 2. Insert a microcassette with its open side up and its full reel opposite the direction of the arrow on the compartment. The arrow indicates the tape-travel direction. 3. Close the cassette compartment. There are two types of small cassettes -- microcassettes and minicassettes. Use only microcassettes, such as Radio Shack's Micro-60 (Cat. No. 44-644). Do not use minicassettes because they are designed for a different kind of drive system. RECORDING You can record with your microcassette recorder using the built-in microphone or an external microphone. You can even start and stop recording automatically using the voice actuation features. Using the Tape Speed Switch You can record and play tapes at two different speeds using the TAPE SPEED switch. Use the 2.4 cm/s (centimeter per second) setting for best recording/playback sound quality. This speed allows 60 minutes total recording/playback time with a Micro-60 cassette. Use the 1.2 cm/s (centimeter per second) setting for longer recording/ playback. This speed allows 120 minutes total recording/playback time with a Micro-60 cassette. At 1.2 cm/s the quality of the recording is not as good as the faster speed. Under certain circumstances, however, the quantity of information might be more important to you than the sound quality. Adjusting the VOL/VOX Control When you use the voice actuation feature, the volume setting determines the sound level that activates the VOX circuit. At higher settings, a softer sound can start VOX recording. At the lower settings, VOX requires a louder sound to activate the recording process. use the lower volume setting in a high-noise environment such as in a plane or automobile. You can monitor the sound level by connecting the supplied earphone to the recorder's EAR jack. Recording With The Built-in Microphone 1.
