CTR-69 (140-1154) Power Sources Faxback Doc. # 7783 You can operate the CTR-69 from one of three power sources: Four C Batteries (not supplied) Standard AC Outlet Vehicle Battery (with optional DC adapter) USING INTERNAL BATTERIES When no AC power is available, you can power the CTR-69 from internal batteries. We recommend alkaline batteries (Cat. No. 23-8551) available at your local Radio Shack store. If the RECORD/LOW BATT indicator lights during pay or the sound becomes weak or distorted, or if the playing speed slows, replace the batteries. To install batteries, do the following: 1. Open the battery compartment (on the bottom of the cabinet) by pushing down on the compartment cover's tab. Then, pull of the compartment cover. 2. Install four C batteries, observing correct battery polarity (+ and -) as shown in the battery compartment. Reversed battery polarity might damage the CTR-69. 3. Close the battery compartment cover. CAUTION: If you do not plan to use your CTR-69 for several weeks, remove the batteries. When they become weak, even long-life or leak- proof batteries might leak chemicals that can damage your CTR- 69. USING AC POWER To use AC power, connect the supplied AC power cord to the CTR-69's AC POWER jack. Then, plug the other end into a standard AC outlet. NOTE: When you connect the CTR-69's AC power cord, the internal batteries are automatically disconnected. WARNING: To prevent a serious shock hazard, unplug the AC power cord from the AC outlet before you unplug the other end from the CTR-69. USING YOUR VEHICLE'S BATTERY You can power the CTR-69 from your vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket if the vehicle has a 12-volt DC, negative-ground electrical system. Use a standard fused DC adapter, such as Cat. No. 14-844D, available at your local Radio Shack store. CAUTION: You must use a DC adapter that supplies 6 volts and delivers at least 400 mA. Its center tip must be set to negative, and its plug must correctly fit the CTR-69's DC 6V jack. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could seriously damage the CTR-69 or the adapter. To power the CTR-69 from a vehicle, follow these steps: 1. Plug the power cord into the CTR-69's DC 6V jack. 2. Insert the power cord's other end into your vehicle's cigarette- lighter socket. CAUTION: Always unplug the power cord from the cigarette-lighter socket before you unplug the other end from the CTR-69. (ALL-9/30/94)
