Portable TV (160-0122A) Operation Faxback Doc. # 7791 USING AN ANTENNA You can use the built-in telescoping antenna in areas that have strong TV signals. For improved reception, connect the TV to a standard outdoor VHF/UHF antenna. If your outdoor antenna wire is 75-ohm coaxial cable, connect the cable to the EXT ANT jack using a Female F to 1/8-inch Mini Plug adapter (Cat. No. 278-257). If you use 300-ohm twin-lead for the antenna, use the supplied 75/300-ohm adapter connect the wire to the TV as follows: 1. Connect the wire from your outdoor antenna to the terminals on the side of the adapter. 2. Flip down the TV's metal loop and insert the adapter's plug into the TV's EXT ANT jack. This automatically disconnects the telescoping antenna. WARNING: Use extreme caution when you install or remove an antenna. If the antenna starts to fall, let it go. It count contact overhead powerlines and cause the electrocution and death of anyone touching it. If it does hit a powerline, call the power company to remove the antenna. DO NOT attempt it yourself. USING THE PEDESTAL You can use the supplied pedestal when you use AC or vehicle-battery power. The pedestal tilts to let you adjust the angle of the TV for comfortable viewing. 1. If the battery pack is connected to the TV, remove it. 2. Align the small end of the pedestal base with the rails on the bottom of the TV and slide the pedestal into place. 3. To disconnect the pedestal, hold it with the TV's screen facing you and slide the TV away from you. USING THE CARRY CASE The supplied carry case lets you carry the TV, the battery pack, and the vehicle DC cord. This case helps protect the TV when you are transporting it and its accessories. TUNING AND CONTROLLING THE PROGRAM To operate the TV, choose and connect the power source. Then, follow these instructions. 1. Rotate VOL to the left, toward ON. 2. Set the VL/VH/UHF band switch to the desired setting. Bands Channels VL 2-6 VH 7-13 UHF 14-69 3. Rotate the TUNING control so that the arrow points to the desired channel in the selected band. To adjust the picture's brightness, rotate the BRIGHT control. To adjust the picture's contrast, rotate the CONT control. To stop the picture from rolling, rotate the V-HOLD control. 4. Adjust the volume control for a comfortable listening level. To listen in privacy, insert a 1/8-inch plug of an earphone (not supplied) into the EAR jack on the back of the TV. INTERFERENCE Your TV might cause TV or radio interference even when it is operating properly. To determine whether your TV is causing the interference, turn off the TV. If the interference goes away, your TV is causing the interference. Try to eliminate the interference by: Moving your TV away from the receiver. Connecting your TV to an outlet that is on a different electrical circuit from the receiver. Contacting your local Radio Shack store for help. If you cannot eliminate the interference, the FCC requires that you stop using the device. (ALL-10/10/94)
