Set the TAPE/RADIO/TV switch to TV. 3. Set the VHF-L/VHF-H/UHF switch to the desired band. For channels 2 through 6, set the switch to VHF-L. For channels 7-13, set the switch to VHF-H. For channels beyond 13, set the switch to UHF. 4. Adjust the VOLUME control for a comfortable listening level. 5. Select the desired station using TUNING control. 6. Adjust the BRIGHT control until you obtain the desired level of brightness or darkness. 7. Adjust the CONTRAST control until you obtain the desired level of contrast. 8. To stop a vertical rolling of the TV picture, adjust the V-HOLD control. 9. Adjust the antenna to get the clearest image possible. See "Antennas." TV Reception Tips Weak signal reception might cause snow to appear on your TV's picture. Too much distance between your TV and the station's transmitter can cause weak reception. Buildings with large amounts of steel construction can cause reception problems as well. Try changing the position and length of the antenna. If this does not help, use an outdoor antenna as described in "Antennas." "Snow" along with a tear or roll can often be due to improper tuning. This can also be due to a very weak signal. If the image does not fill the screen at the sides, this means your battery power is low. Replace the batteries as needed. USING THE RADIO Follow these steps to operate your radio. 1. Set the VOLUME control to its lowest setting. 2. Set the TAPE/RADIO/TV switch to RADIO. 3. Set the AM/FM/FM-STEREO selector to the desired band. 4. Adjust the VOLUME control for a comfortable listening level. 5. Select the desired station using the TUNING control. The FM STEREO/POWER indicator becomes brighter when you tune the radio to an FM stereo broadcast. Extend your TV/radio/recorder's antenna to its full length for improved FM reception. 6. Adjust the BALANCE control to suit your personal preference. Radio Reception Tips If FM reception is weak, this is generally caused by problems similar to those described in "TV Reception Tips." Use an outdoor antenna to improve your TV/radio/recorder's reception. Weak AM reception can be caused by the station's transmitter being too far away, or by operating your TV/radio/recorder in a building with steel construction. Turn your TV/radio/recorder in different directions to find the best position for the built-in AM antenna. USING THE CASSETTE DECK Follow these steps to operate your cassette deck.
