Portable TV (160-0124) Power Sources Faxback Doc. # 7813 You can power your TV/radio using any of these power sources: Nine D batteries Standard household electricity (using the supplied AC adapter) 12-volt vehicle battery (using the supplied DC adapter) USING INTERNAL BATTERY POWER You can power the Portavision from 9 D batteries. We recommend alkaline batteries (such as Cat. No. 23-550) for longest battery life. You can also use rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries (such as Cat. No. 23-123). Follow these steps to install batteries. 1. Gently push the battery compartment cover's two locking latches in the direction of the arrows and lift the cover from the Portavision. 2. Install nine D batteries in the battery compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the battery compartment. CAUTION: Installing the batteries incorrectly can damage your TV/radio. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. NOTES: When the TV picture shrinks, replace the battery. Battery life can vary greatly, depending on how you use your TV/radio, TV operation drains batteries faster than radio operation. If you do not intend to use your TV/radio for a month or more, remove the batteries. Never store your TV/radio with batteries inside. They can leak damaging chemicals. USING STANDARD AC POWER To use AC power, connect the supplied AC adapter to the Portavision's jack. Then plug the other end into a standard AC outlet. CAUTION: Use only an AC adapter that supplies 13.5 volts DC, delivers 850 milliamps, and has a center positive plug which properly fits the Portavision's DC 12-14V jack. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the TV/radio or the adapter. USING YOUR VEHICLE'S BATTERY POWER You can power the Portavision from your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket using the supplied Dc adapter cord. CAUTION: Your vehicle must have a 12-volt negative-ground system. Follow these steps to power the Portavision from your vehicle's battery power. 1. Plug the small end of the supplied DC adapter cord into the DC 12-14V jack. CAUTION: Use only a DC adpater that suplies 12 volts DC, and has a center positive plug which properly fits the Portavision's Dc 12-14V jack. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the TV/radio or the adapter. 2. Unplug your vehicle's cigarette lighter, and plug the large end of the DC adapter cord into the cigarette-lighter socket. When you connect the DC adapter, the batteries are automatically disconnected. NOTES: Always unplug the DC adapter from the cigarette-lighter socket before you unplug it from the Portavision. To use vehicle battery power you must unplug the AC power cord from the Portavision. (ALL-10/10/94)
