VSS-400 (490-2501) Operation Faxback Doc. # 7834 VIEWING CAMERAS INPUTS After you turn on the power, the AUTO and camera 1 indicators light and the system automatically scans for input from each camera. The monitor displays a blank screen for any unused camera input. To skip these, see "Programming a Viewing Sequence." To set the monitor to manual mode to watch a single camera, press AUTO to turn off the auto sequencer and then press the CAMERA button for the camera you want to observe. Setting the Pause Time When you turn on the system, it pauses 5 seconds at each camera. You can set the pause time to be from 1 to 60 seconds long. To adjust the pause time, hold down both AUTO and CAMERA 4. The pause time is determined by how long you hold down the buttons. For example, to set the pause time to 10 seconds, hold down the buttons for 10 seconds. Programming a Viewing Sequence The system scans cameras 1 through 4 in order each time you turn it on. To set the system to scan in a different order, simply press the camera buttons in the order you want the system to scan. To skip a camera input, simply do not press that camera's button. For example, to view cameras in the sequence 3-2-1 and skip camera 4, press 3, 2, 1. To clear the viewing sequence, press VCR. Then press AUTO. The system resumes scanning all four cameras. ADJUSTING THE MONITOR'S CONTROLS The monitor has these picture controls under the flip cover on the front panel. CONT (Contrast) Adjust this for proper contrast between the dark and light parts of the picture. BRIT (Brightness) Adjust this for overall brightness of the screen. V-HOLD (Vertical Hold) Turn this to prevent the picture from rolling. H-HOLD (Horizontal Hold) Turn this to set the horizontal hold. VOL (Volume) Turn this to adjust the volume. TALKING TO SOMEONE NEAR A CAMERA You can speak with someone near a camera in both the manual and automatic modes. In the manual mode, press TALK to speak with a person at the selected camera. Release TALK to hear the reply. In the automatic mode, press TALK when the system switches to the camera which is located where you want to talk to someone. Release TALK to hear the reply. Once you press talk, the system continues viewing that camera until you press AUTO to resume scanning. USING THE SYSTEM WITH A VCR If you connect a VCR to your system, you can record what the camera sees and hears. You can play back the recording on the monitor or on a TV. This illustration shows the connections between the monitor and VCR. To Record on a VCR 1. Turn on your VCR and select the VCR's audio/video inputs. (See the VCR's Owner's Manual.) 2. Press POWER to turn on the monitor. 3. To test for proper operation, turn on a monitor connected to your VCR. The monitor should show the same image the camera sees. 4. Begin recording as described in your VCR's owner's manual. To Play Back from a VCR to the Monitor 1. Turn on the VCR. 2. Press POWER to turn on the monitor. 3. Press VCR on the monitor's front panel. 4. Begin playback as described in your VCR's owner's manual. (LB/all-10/21/94)
