Model 17 (160-0409) Quick Start Faxback Doc. # 7892 CONNECTING THE BUILT-IN ANTENNA To use the built-in antenna, be sure the signal pin is plugged into the UHF/VHF ANTENNA jack's center hole. NOTE: For improved reception, connect an outdoor antenna. CONNECTING TO AC POWER Follow these steps to use AC power. 1. Insert the supplied AC adapter's tabs into the slots on the back of the Model 17. Then slide the adapter down until it snaps into place. 2. Plug the adapter's barrel plug into the DC POWER INPUT jack. 3. Plug the adapter's power cord into an AC outlet. WARNING: For your protection, the adapter's power cord is polarized. To preserve this protection, be sure the plug's blades fit fully and easily into the outlet. Use only supplied AC adapter Model No. 16-409 for Model 17 and do not use supplied AC adapter for other product. PROGRAMMING THE TUNER MEMORY Follow these steps to store TV channels in the tuner's memory. This makes scanning the channels more convenient, because the TV scans only the programmed channels. NOTE: To program cable channels into memory, connect to the cable system before completing the following steps. 1. Press POWER. The POWER indicator lights. 2. Press CHANNEL SELECT until the desired band indicator (TV or CATV) appears on the screen. 3. Press CHANNEL PRESET. AUTOMEMO appears on the screen. 4. While AUTOMEMO appears, press CHANNEL /\. The Model 17 automatically stores active channels. Then it tunes to the stored channel with the lowest channel number. 5. If necessary, repeat Steps 2-4 for the other band. 6. If desired, you can check the memory's contents and remove or add channels, as follows: a. Press CHANNEL SELECT until the desired band indicator (TV or CATV) appears on the screen. b. Press CHANNEL PRESET until MEMORY or SKIP appears. c. When MEMORY or SKIP appears, press CHANNEL /\ or \/ to scan the memory's contents. To remove a channel, press CHANNEL SELECT so SKIP appears. To add a channel, press CHANNEL SELECT so MEMORY appears. d. If necessary, repeat Steps a through c for the other band. 7. Press CHANNEL PRESET so that no display appears (or wait until the display disappears) and then exit the programming mode. NOTE: If you connect the Model 17 to AC power, the memory saves stored channels even when you turn off the Model 17. If you use vehicle battery power, you must re-program the memory each time you turn on the Model 17. CAUTIONS: Do not leave the Model 17 connected to DC power when you are not using your vehicle. If you use the Model 17 with the vehicle's engine turned off, protect the vehicle's battery from completely discharging by recharging the battery after every 4 hours of use. Unplug the DC power cord as soon as you finish using the Model 17. USING THE STAND To adjust the viewing angle, pull down the built-in stand. (ALL-10/25/94)
