Model 98 (160-0536) Inputs and Outputs Faxback Doc. # 7912 The CHANNEL 3/4 switch and the TV/VCR and INPUT buttons control the input and output signals of your VCR. This section explains how to select the channels you view and record. SETTING THE CHANNEL 3/4 SWITCH Set the VCR's CHANNEL 3/4 switch (on the back of the VCR) to 3 or 4, whichever is not an active channel in your area. When VCR appears on the display, the VCR sends the selected video source from its TO TV OUT terminal to the TV. The CHANNEL 3/4 switch has no effect on the TV when the VCR is off, when VCR does not appear on the display, or if you are using a TV which has separate audio/video input jacks and which is set to the TV mode. USING THE TV/VCR BUTTON The Model 98's 179-channel (68 VHF/UHF channels, 111 cable channels) tuner is active anytime you turn it on. Press the TV/VCR button on the remote control so VCR appears on the display, and you can then use the VCR's tuner to select the channel you view. To select a channel with the TV's tuner, press TV/VCR so VCR does not show and set the TV to the TV mode. Whenever the VCR is on, the signals from the VCR are sent to the AUDIO/VIDEO OUT jacks, regardless of the TV/VCR setting. USING INPUT To choose a signal to record, press INPUT on the remote control until the desired indication appears in the display window; a channel number for recording VHF/UHF signals, or AV for recording signals from the VCR's AUDIO/VIDEO IN jacks. NOTE: INPUT has no effect during tape playback or when the VCR is turned off. VIEWING TV Viewing TV Using the TV's Tuner 1. Turn on the TV and set it to the same channel as the VCR's CHANNEL 3/4 switch (3 or 4). If you are using a TV that is connected to the VCR's AUDIO/VIDEO OUT jacks, set the TV to the video mode. 2. Press TV/VCR until VCR appears on the VCR's display. 3. Press CH/TRACK (CHANNEL on the VCR) \/ or /\, or use the remote control's number buttons to select the desired channel. (ALL-11/02/94)
