Your Memorex Model 158 Moviecorder camcorder combines all the features
of a video camera and a portable VCR in one lightweight package.  Using
standard 8mm cassettes, you can record and play back home movies anywhere.
The low-light (2- lux) CCD imager makes special lighting unnecessary in
most situations.  

You can also use the camcorder to play a tape or copy it to another VCR.

This camcorder has many special features that make operation simple,
convenient, and versatile.  Be sure to read this manual carefully and

1/3-inch CCD Imager-provides a clear, high resolution picture, even in
low-light conditions such as candlelight (down to 2 lux).
 
2/3-inch Electronic Viewfinder with Variable Focus-lets you monitor the
picture during recording and playback.

12-to-1 Power Zoom Lens-lets you go smoothly from wide-angle to telephoto
shots at the push of a button.  You can use most standard 43mm photographic
filters.

Automatic Focusing-provides automatic, full-range focusing from 1/2 inch
to infinity for a sharp, clear picture in almost all situations.  You can
use manual focusing for special situations.  

Zoom Auto Focus-automatically zooms out to adjust the focus if you zoom in
on an object and the object is out of focus.

Fade In/Fade Out-provides professional-quality scene transitions.

Neuro Auto Exposure-constantly adjusts for almost any lighting situation.

Wide-Screen Recording-lets you record a panoramic picture at a ratio of
approximately 16:9 width-to-height.

Auto White-Balance Control-ensures natural color reproduction in either
natural or artificial light.  Manual control is also possible for special
circumstances.

Gain-Up Control-lets you adjust for unusual lighting conditions.

Variable Shutter Speed-reduces blurring in freeze-frames of high-speed
action.

Built-In Microphone-lets you record sounds for your video recordings.
The external microphone jack lets you use other specialized microphones.

Flying Erase Head-provides exceptionally clean edits between recorded
segments.

Clock/Calendar Graphics Generator-lets you record the current date and
time in the corner of the picture.

Audio/Video Input & Output Jacks-let you play back tapes on a TV, or copy
tapes to or from the camcorder.

Forward/Reverse Video Search & Freeze Frame-let you quickly scan your
recordings and examine individual frames in detail.  

IR Remote Control-lets you operate the camcorder from a distance.  

Real Time Counter with Memory-shows the actual tape run time in hours,
minutes and seconds, and lets you locate a specific point on a tape.

Edit Search-lets you locate and resume recording from a desired point on
a tape for smooth scene transitions.

Auto Head Cleaning-automatically cleans the camcorder's heads when you
insert a cassette tape or press EJECT.

Dew Protection-helps you avoid damaging the camcorder by preventing
operation when there is moisture inside it.

Three-Way Power Supply-lets you power the camcorder from the battery,
the AC adapter/charger, or an optional vehicle adapter/charger, or an
optional vehicle adapter/charger.
