The Optimus CD-5500 Compact Disc Player features the latest in digital
audio technology.  Like all compact disc (CD) players, the CD-5500 uses a
low-power laser beam to read digital information from the CD then converts
the information into audio signals.  Since only a light beam touches the
disc's surface in the player, there is no disc wear during normal use.
With proper disc care, the original sound quality can last indefinitely.
Ever when the disc is slightly scratched, the CD-5500's special error-
correction circuits can reconstruct missing digital information.

The CD player includes these features:

Eight-Times Oversampling 
with Digital Filtering - Improves the CD's sound by multiplying the 
                         standard 44.1 kHz sampling rate by eight and 
                         using a digital filter to reduce or eliminate 
                         the high-frequency distortion caused by the 
                         digital-to-analog conversion.

Digital Display - Displays the CD player's operation status and other
                  information, such as the total number of tracks, the 
                  total playing time, the current track, and the elapsed 
                  time or remaining time.

Sequence Programming - Lets you program up to 20 tracks to play in any 
                       order you choose.

15-Track number Grid - Lets you quickly see the total number of tracks 
                       (up to 15) you can play or program from a CD.

Tri-Spot Laser Tracking - Provides exceptionally accurate tracking of the
                          CD's digital information.

3-inch Cd Compatible - Plays 3-inch CDs without an adapter.

Floating Disc Tray - Reduces interference caused by external vibrations.

Automatic Search Music System (ASMS) - Lets you quickly find any track on a
                                       CD.

Audible Search - Lets you rapidly play a CD in either direction to listen
                 for and locate a certain section of a track.

Track Selector - Lets you select a specific track on a loaded CD.

Repeat Play -  Automatically repeats a programmed sequence of tracks, 
               all the tracks on a CD, a single track, or a desired 
               section of a track.

Random Play - Continuously plays tracks it selects at random.

STA-Compatible - Lets you play and control the CD changer through your
                 Optimus STA-5500 or STA-7500 Stereo Receiver/Amplifier.

Remote Control - Lets you control most of your system's functions from a
                 distance.  The remote control requires 2 AA batteries, 
                 not supplied.
