System 1036 (130-1258) Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 8827 Caution: Always turn off the system and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet before cleaning. You should follow a careful maintenance schedule to achieve the best performance and prolong the system's life. CLEANING THE CABINET Do not use Benzene, thinner or similar solvents, harsh detergents, or abrasive cleaners to clean the cabinet. Wipe off dust and stains with a soft cloth moistened only with a mild soap and water solution. CLEANING THE TAPE DECK The tape heads, pinch rollers and capstan require periodic cleaning every 10 to 15 hours of tape play. To clean, insert a head cleaning cassette, available at your local Radio Shack store, into the player and operate the system in a normal manner for 1 to 2 minutes, or follow the instructions included with the head cleaner cassette. You can also clean the deck parts by hand using a cotton swab moistened with a head cleaner solution, available at your local Radio Shack store. Gently rub the tape heads, pinch roller, and capstan with the moist cotton swab. HANDLING COMPACT DISCS Although the music tracks on the disc are covered with a protective layer, it is still advisable to treat the disc carefully. Always pick up the discs by the edge and put them back in their holders immediately after use. CLEANING COMPACT DISCS Cleaning will not normally be necessary. However, should fingerprints, dust or soil appear, you can wipe them off with a soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe the disc in a straight line from the center to the edge. If required, moisten the disc first with plain lukewarm water. Never use detergents, abrasive cleaners or cleaning agents made for conventional phonograph records. (LB/all-09/20/94)
