The Radio Shack TRC-493 40-Channel CB Mobile Transceiver is a breakthrough
in CB design technology.  It includes a DSP (Digital Signal Processor)
circuit for improved audio quality.  It reduces background noise and
virtually eliminates whines and whistles commonly heard on crowded CB
frequencies.

The CB includes these features:

DSP Switch and Indicator - Turns the DSP circuit on or off and shows you 
                           the on/off status of the circuit.

40 CB Channel Capability - Lets you use the 40 channels allotted by the FCC
                           for CB use.

Emergency Channel Switch - Lets you immediately access Channel 9 to report
                           an emergency.

Public-Address (PA) Capability - Lets you use the transceiver as a PA 
                                 system (with an optional PA speaker #
                                 40-1236).

Base-Station Capability - Lets you use the transceiver as a base-station
                          powered from a standard AC outlet (with an optional
                          power supply and base station antenna)(Power 
                          Supply-22-120, Antenna-21-967).

PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) Frequency Synthesizer - Provides reliable land 
                                                exact tuning by using a 
                                                precise frequency-reference 
                                                crystal.

Two Ceramic Filters - Provide superior selectivity and freedom from 
                      adjacent channel interference.

AMC (Automatic Modulation Control) Circuit - Prevents the transmitter 
                                             signal from over-modulating
                                             and distorting.

ANL (Automatic Noise Limiter) Circuit - Reduces impulse-type noises while
                                        receiving.

LED Channel Display - Shows the current channel number and indicates 
                      when the PA function is selected.

RF Gain Control - Helps prevent overloading from strong signals.

TONE Control - Lets you adjust the frequency response of the received sound.

4-Step LED RX Signal/Tx Power Meter - Shows the strength of the signals the
                                      CB receives or transmits.

Modulation Indicator - Shows whether you are speaking too loudly or too
                       softly when you are transmitting.

External Speaker Jack - Lets you connect an optional external CB speaker.
                        (Speaker-21-549).

CB/PA Switch - Lets you switch between using the transceiver for a CB or
               a PA system.

Universal Mounting Hardware - Lets you switch between using the transceiver
                              for a CB or a PA system.

Universal Mounting Hardware - Lets you mount the microphone and transceiver
                              securely in place.
