The transmitter and siren detector have a maximum range of about 150 feet, which is adequate in most normal-sized homes. However, the actual range depends on the operating conditions and environment. You can determine the actual range only by testing the system. TESTING THE BASE'S ALARMS Follow these steps to test the base's alarms. 1. Press and hold down TEST on the base for at least 2 seconds. The TEST indicator lights and the base alternately sounds the burglar alarm (repeated beeps) and the fore alarm (a continuous tone) while you hold down the button. Note: Any external sirens you connect also sound. 2. Release TEST after you confirm the alarm's operation. 3. Press TEST again to turn off the TEST indicator. Disabling the BASE'S Siren If you connect an external siren, you might want to disable the base's internal siren. Caution: Do not disable the base's internal siren unless you connect an external siren and thoroughly test it to confirm that it works properly. For the system to remain UL-approved, the jumper must be in the enabled position. Any external siren you connect is supplementary only. (SMC/jlc-03/22/94)
