Wireless Home (490-2010) Personal Access Code Faxback Doc. # 8932 Alarm System SETTING YOUR PERSONAL ACCESS CODE This alarm system requires an access code that lets you arm or disarm the system and change various system settings. The system's factory-set code is 1234. For better security, set your own code as follows: 1. Press CODE on the base. The CODE indicator flashes. 2. Enter 1 2 3 4 . The base sounds a brief ascending tone and the CODE indicator lights steadily. 3. Enter your four-digit personal access code. After you enter the fourth digit, the system sounds a brief descending tone. 4. Enter your four-digit personal access code. After you enter the last digit of the code, the base sounds a brief ascending tone and then a descending tone to confirm that the new code is stored in memory. Note: If at this time, you enter a code that is different from the first entry, the base sounds a low-pitched error tone after you re-enter the code. Repeat the procedure from Step 1. See "Changing Your Personal Access Code for information about changing the code and what to do if you forget your personal access code. CHANGING YOUR PERSONAL ACCESS CODE Note: Before you change your personal access code, be sure the system is disarmed. (The STATUS indicator is green.) If the STATUS indicator is red, enter your current personal access code to disarm the system. The STATUS indicator changes to green. Follow these steps to change your personal access code. 1. Press CODE. The CODE indicator flashes. 2. Enter your current personal access code. The base sounds a short ascending tone and the CODE indicator lights steadily. 3. Enter your new personal access code. After you enter the fourth digit, the system sounds a short descending tone. 4. Enter the new personal access code again. After you enter the last digit, the base sounds a short ascending tone and then a descending tone to confirm that the new code is stored in memory. Note: If you enter a code that is different from the first entry, the base sounds a low-pitched error tone after you re-enter the code. Repeat the procedure from Step 1. If You Forget Your Personal Access Code If you forget your personal access code, you can reset the access code to the factory default (1234). To do so, use a thin object, such as a straightened paper clip, to press the recessed RESET button under the zone indicator cover.
