TandyFax 1505 (430-1216) Setup Faxback Doc. # 8961 Entering Name And Fax Number The name and fax number (called the "Sender's name" and "Senders number") are used in several functions which the machine performs. In particular, they are printed at the top of each page you transmit. To give the machine your name and fax number, press the panel keys as shown in the procedure below. Step Press these keys: Comments 1 FUNCTION Enter ENTRY MODE. 1 * * * Scroll down to OWN PASSCODE SET. 3 START/COPY Press START/COPY to select it. 4 5 5 5 1 2 3 4 Enter your fax number with the numeric keys (Example) 5 START/COPY Press START/COPY. 6 ABC DEF GHI WXY Enter your name. 2 3 4 9 If you don't want to make (Example) an entry, skip this step. 7 START/COPY Press START/COPY. 8 STOP Press STOP to exit ENTRY MODE. Using a pencil, write your telephone number in the space provided below the Rapid key panel. Caution: * Avoid frequent erasure of this number, as eraser particles may enter the cracks between the key and the panel, causing key malfunction. In addition, frequent erasure will dull the luster of the panel surface. * Do not use writing utensils with hard or sharp tips such as ball-point pens. These may damage the panel surface. User Switches User switches are electronic switches located in the micro-circuitry of the TANDYFAX 1505. These switches control various aspects of the functioning of the machine. Each switch is set at the factory; however, you may want to change one or more of these settings to better suit your needs. The switches are described in the list below, along with their corresponding settings. ACCESSING THE SWITCHES 1. Press the FUNCTION key and "4" to enter USER SWITCH MODE (this will appear in the display). 2. Scroll through the list of switches by pressing "#" to move forward, or "*" to move backward. The switches will appear in the order shown below. 3. When the described switch appears in the display, select the setting. 4. After the setting is selected, the display will show the next item in the list. You can either make a setting for that item, or press STOP to exit USER SWITCH MODE. SWITCH SETTINGS Switch 1: FINE RESOLUTION PRIORITY The switch is used to change the default resolution for document transmission from STANDARD to FINE. Press "1" (YES) to change it to FINE, or "2" (NO) to change it back to STANDARD. * Factory setting: "2" Switch 2: NUMBER OF RINGS TO ANSWER This sets the number of rings the fax machine waits before answering an incoming call in automatic reception mode. Press "1" to select 6 rings, or or "2" to select 1 ring. * Factory setting: "2" Switch 3: RECALL WAIT INTERVAL This sets the amount of time the machine will wait between automatic redials when the line is busy. Press "1" for 1 minute, or "2" for 5 minutes. * Factory setting: "2" Switch 4: RECALL TIMES This sets the maximum number of times the machine will automatically redial of the line is busy. Press "1" for 5 times, or "2" for 2 times. * Factory setting: "2" Switch 5: 6 RINGS MANUAL ANSWER Press "1" (YES) to have the machine answer a call after 6 rings when it is in manual reception mode. Press "2" (NO) to disable the function. * Factory setting: "2" Switch 7: TELEPHONE/FAX REMOTE NUMBER This sets a 1-digit code number which a caller from an answering machine or touch-tone telephone connected in parallel with the TANDYFAX 1505 can enter (after entering "*") to make the latter begin fax reception. Choose any number from "0" to "9". * Factory setting: "5" Note: * Activation of fax reception may not be possible from certain types of answering machine, or if the distance between the two devices is too large. Switch 8: TRANSACTION PRINT CONDITION LIST This sets the condition for printing out Transaction Reports. Enter a number from "1" to "4" as follows: "1" (ALWAYS PRINT): Prints out a report after each transmission and reception. "2" (ERROR PRINT): Prints out a report only when an error occurs. "3" (SEND ONLY): Prints out a report only after each transmission. "4" (NEVER PRINT): Does not print out any reports. * Factory setting: "2" Switch 9: PSEUDO RINGING DURATION This sets the duration of pseudo ringing when Automatic Fax/Phone Changeover is enabled. Enter a number from "1" to "4" as follows: "1" (15 SEC.): 15 seconds duration "2" (30 SEC.): 30 seconds duration "3" (60 SEC.): 60 seconds duration "4" (120 SEC.): 120 seconds duration * Factory setting: "1" (smc-03/02/94)
