The following is a list of messages which may appear on the display, their
meanings, and corrective measures (if required).

**STAND-BY**                     Ready for transmission or reception.

TOTAL PAGE(S)01                  Number of pages transmitted or received.

NO PAPER                         You have run out of recording paper.

COVER OPEN                       The operation panel is open.  Close it.

DOCUMENT JAM                     The document is jammed.

LINE ERROR                       Transmission or reception was not
                                 successful.  Try again.

FUNCTION MODE                    The machine is in function mode.

STORED                           Programming has been completed.

ON HOOK DIAL                     The handset is on hook.

SEND READY                       A document has been loaded and the machine
                                 is waiting for transmission instructions.

FAX CONNECTING                   Teansmission/reception is taking place.

OVER HEAT                        The recording head is overheated.  Turn
                                 off the power and let it cool down.

ALARMS:

Continuous tone       3 seconds          Indicates the end of transmission,
                                         reception, of copying.

Intermittent tone     5 seconds
                      (1 second on,      Indicates incomplete transmission,
                      1 second off)      reception, or copying.
                      35 seconds
                      (0.7 seconds on,   Indicates that the handset is off
                      0.3 seconds off)   hook.
