PPC-750 Copier (630-0868) Improving Image Quality Faxback Doc. # 9485 Most image problems with the PPC-750 (as with most laser printers) are usually due to the toner being clumped up in the toner cartridge. Also, if the toner cartridges are changed without performing the "Setting the Toner Density", the copier can get confused as to the amount of toner it should be delivering to the copy process. The following procedure should alleviate both problems: 1. Remove the toner cartridge from the copier and rap gently all along the top of the cartridge. Then shake the cartridge from side to side several times. Reinsert the toner cartridge back into the copier. 2. Turn on the power while holding the START button. A solid "1" will be on the display. 3. Press and hold the COPIES and CLEAR/STOP keys simultaneously. A flashing "1" will appear on the display. 4. Press the COPIES key twice. A flashing "3" will appear on the display. 5. Press the START key. The "3" will turn solid and the copier's toner motor will turn for several minutes, "stirring" the toner in the cartridge. 6. When the "3" starts flashing again, the "stirring" process has completed, turn the copier off. 7. Turn the copier on while CLEAR/STOP key. The copier will now calibrate itself to the toner cartridge. This can take several minutes. When complete the copier will be ready to use. As a note, cartridges that have been in storage for a long time, or cartridges that are very low on toner might require several passes of this procedure. (/all-12/09/94)
